About this project:

This scope of this project evolved from a commission to make training videos to the creation of a large eLearning program for both internal and external use. The final courses contained more than 50 video segments, as well as still photography, knowledge assessments, and quizzes.

Scene-by-scene script breakdown

In this script breakdown, you can see how every individual shot is previsualized and planned well in advance of filming. Cause and effect is created by narration, which describes the action, and either parallel editing or window-in-a-window graphics.

This breakdown is a shot-by-shot list, designed for maximum clarity of instruction. It is a road map of what is to be filmed, to ensure that every detail is covered.

Every individual shot is slated with a scene and take number, and these scenes can often be shot out of linear sequence. This breakdown provides the key to proper assembly in the editing process.

Filming concept for FUJIFILM

The schematic above uses four sources of image acquisition for the filming of these tutorials, all recording one pass of the action simultaneously. This includes three cameras and the screen recording made from the ARIETTA device.

Only one camera requires live operation to follow the hand action, with the others remaining fixed and locked off.

One of the cameras, (Camera “D”), is a reference camera used for synchronisation of all hand action captured, and the real-time effects on the display monitor. This footage is not intended for viewing in the final edit.
